The company began in 1933 as a cold store named "Tong Guan" in Magallanes St., Cebu City, selling imported wines and canned goods. It was founded by Uy ChunTong, a migrant from Amoy, China. In the 1970s, the business transitioned into a grocery wholesaler and retailer, later becoming known as "La Nueva Grocery."

In the 1980s, under the leadership of the late Mr. Julian Uy and Ms. Martina Uy, the company expanded and became "La Nueva Supermart," a supermarket that also began selling over-the-counter medicines. In October 1989, the company officially launched its pharmacy in Magallanes St., Cebu City, marking a significant milestone in its diversification.

La Nueva Pharmacy, under the management of Mr. Robinson Uy, continued to grow. One of its notable branches is located on S. Osmena Street in Lapu-Lapu, also known as Mactan 4. This branch is the 22nd location in the expanding pharmacy chain, further solidifying La Nueva Pharmacy's presence in the region.
